Aruba in one on the Lesser Antilles, the westernmost of the group of Sotavento islands, 25 km north of the Paraguana peninsula in northwestern Venezuela and south of the Caribbean Sea, just west of the island of Curacao. He was part of the Netherlands Antilles, but since January 1, 1986 is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, separately to the Netherlands Antilles.According to estimates in 2011, Aruba has a population amounting to 106 113 inhabitants, the capital, Oranjestad, is the most populous city (33 000 inhabitants).


Aruba's Queen Beatrix International Airport is located near Oranjestad, there are plenty of direct flights and convenient connections; check airline routes that meet your needs. Even a one-day stop during your cruise can put you in the mellow Aruba frame of mind.

Aruba has two ports, Barcadera and Playa, which are located in Oranjestad. The Port of Playa welcomes all the cruise-ship lines, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines, NCL, Holland America Line, Disney Cruise Line and many more; an estimated almost one million tourists enter in this port per year.

Things To Do in Aruba

Aruba's alabaster beaches and sparkling Caribbean waters are world-renowned.
The water activities include jet-ski, wave-runner, paddleboat, banana boat or tube, or visit De Palm Island's water park. Fisherman Huts is a mecca for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Hop aboard a pleasure boat, luxurious catamaran, or fishing yacht. The south coast is a coral reef with over twenty dive sites and eleven diver-friendly wrecks. Behold underwater splendor while snorkeling or diving, with Snuba or Sea Trek, or aboard Atlantic Submarine.

Land activities include hiking, horseback riding, golf, tennis, beach tennis and mountain biking. You can explore the natural wonders of the island, walk  throughout Arikok National Park, Casibari and Ayo rock formations and Indian caves. Walk through history at the Bushiribana gold mill, Alto Vista Chapel and the museums in downtown Oranjestad.
